Choosing the right ham knife

Which blade length and type should you favour?

For ham, a long blade (25 to 30 cm) lets you slice the whole piece in a single pass, without a sawing motion. A flexible blade follows the contour of the bone and rind, while a scalloped blade creates air pockets that keep the slice from clinging to the steel. For heavy bone-side work, a stiffer blade offers more control.

How do you care for a ham knife?

Regular honing with a steel or sharpening on a stone preserves the edge needed for a clean cut. Hand washing followed by immediate drying protects both the blade and the handle. For related items and accessories, see the parent Meat knife section and the full kitchen knife range.

The Ham knife range features models from Arcos, among others. To complete your carving kit, also discover the Slicing knife and the Butcher knife. The full selection is available at AZ Boutique.
