Choosing your wine glass
Which shape for which wine?
A wide bowl favours the aeration of structured red wines, while a narrower bowl preserves the freshness and aromas of white wines. For versatile service, the universal glass remains the easiest solution to manage in the hospitality trade. Among the most popular collections, the Abeille range is the best-selling, followed by Open Up - Mikasa and the Versailles collection, while the Viticole and Elegance ranges appeal to the catering trade.
Which capacity to favour?
A generous capacity does not mean a larger serving: it lets the wine open up above a one-third fill. Medium capacities suit service by the glass, larger ones suit premium service and tasting.
Fine or resistant glass?
Thin rims offer a more delicate tasting; glasses in reinforced materials such as Kwarx or Tritan better tolerate intensive use and the dishwasher. The choice depends on the balance sought between finesse and robustness.
Pulled or attached stem?
A pulled stem (one-piece glass) reduces weak points, an advantage for repeated service. Also check dishwasher compatibility to make daily maintenance easier.
