If for you a successful dinner always ends on a delicious sweet note, the dessert knife will be your favorite tool! This utensil is truly a must-own tableware item for the gourmet and specially the sweet tooth! Indeed, this type of cutlery has a format not only suitable for tasting your favorite sweets including desserts but it is also used for tasting cold starters and hot starters and to savor cheese.
How to choose the dessert cutlery?
Do you know that the choice of your plates and cutlery has an influence on how you perceive the taste of your food? A scientific study has shown the appreciation of each culinary preparation is a multisensory experience involving not only taste, but also texture and visual appeal. The visual aspect does not only concern the dish itself but also plate, spoon, fork and knife and even presentation plates. The choice of your dessert knife is therefore essential because it can be a decisive criterion on the success of your next dinner!
Since on special occasions we will spend most of the evening at the table, the host must pay special attention to the table décor. Candlesticks, pearl napkin ring, and an elegant table center piece sublimate your party table, but let's not forget that the main assets or your table scape are your cutlery, your dinnerware and your glassware!
Contemporary design, sleek lines, bold colors or the timeless charm of the Vieux Paris style: AZ Boutique offers a broad range of stainless or silver metal cutlery which you can pair with your table decoration. The dessert knives with a stainless steel mirror finish will immediately give a flair of elegance to your meal, tabletop and gourmet settings.
Formal table setting and table scaping: where to place your dessert knife?
If you are a table scaping addict you certainly know that formal table setting involves following a specific protocol and specific rules. Here is a little guide to know on how to set set a perfectly well-appointed table which is sure to impress even the most discerning guests!
- Napkin: In addition to the fact that the napkin must be impeccably ironed and folded, another golden rule must be respected: a formal ban on the use of paper napkins!
- Plates: The setting of each plate will depend on the dishes served. If you are serving a soup, place the soup plate on the dinner plate. If you serve an appetizer, the appetizer plate will replace the soup plate. For a festive table as Christmas and New Year table, opt for a beautiful porcelain plate with a golden border for example for a more festive effect.
- Cutlery: Cutlery must always be placed in the order of use. So, the cutlery to be used first will be placed furthest to the plate. According to the rules of the English table setting, the fork is placed on the left of the plate, the tine pointing upwards. As for the soup spoon it is also placed on the left always side bulging downwards. The table knife is placed on the right, blade towards the plate. The dessert knife and entremet, it will be placed at the top of the plate.
