A cutlery set includes forks, knives, spoons and, depending on the format, dessert cutlery and serving pieces in a single coherent ensemble. Choosing a set means guaranteeing a harmonious table: same model, same finish, same balance in hand. Our Cutlery set section offers more than 400 references, from the 18-piece family box to large assortments for the entertaining table. They are one of the pillars of the Cutlery department.

Types of cutlery sets

Leading brands

  • Guy Degrenne — French cutlery with a varied selection of models and finishes.
  • Amefa — affordable, robust sets for everyday use.
  • Eternum — manufacturing geared towards refined tables and catering.
  • Bugatti — cutlery with a distinctive Italian design.
  • Couzon — sets with a contemporary aesthetic.
  • Jean Dubost — cutlery know-how from Thiers.

Choosing the right cutlery set

How many pieces for how many guests?

As a rule, count four to six pieces per guest for everyday use (fork, knife, spoon, plus dessert pieces). A 24-piece set covers six settings, while a 48-piece set equips twelve guests. For larger gatherings, look at the 72-piece or 100-piece and over formats.

Which material and finish?

18/10 stainless steel remains the benchmark for its corrosion resistance and dishwasher safety. The finish depends on your table: mirror polish for a classic look, satin or matt for a contemporary feel. Among the most popular models, the Confidence collection is the best-selling, ahead of Blois Beau Manoir and Verlaine; for a more worked decor, the Astrée chiselled or the Vieux Paris satin offer a more pronounced finish. Polycarbonate cutlery meets the needs of communities and outdoor use.

With or without a case?

A case protects the cutlery and makes storage easier, particularly for large assortments and special-occasion pieces. If you already own a set, an empty case or box lets you store it. To personalise your table, also look at coloured cutlery.

Should you plan for serving cutlery?

Many large sets already include serving pieces. If not, complete your selection with the Service cutlery section and, for appetizers, with appetizer cutlery.
