Souffle dish

The porcelain souffle dish is the ideal cooking utensil to bake all your delicious soufflé recipes namely the cheese soufflé, the chocolate souffle, the oatmeal souffle, the marrow souffle, the raspberry souffle and many other delicious recipes.

This French culinary specialty, which very often serves as a main course is made of béchamel sauce and egg yolks including egg whites and owes its success to its incredible lightness! Soufflés are traditionally baked in small ramekins or even in a larger round porcelain soufflé pan that are baked in the oven.

At AZ Boutique, we offer a wide range of durable and professional-quality porcelain souffle dishes from the Revol, Pillivuyt and Sarreguemines brands which are renowned high-quality porcelain manufacturers in the field of tableware, bakeware, dinnerware, glassware and kitchenware for personal and professional uses.

Nowadays, the souffle dish is definitely one of the essential kitchen utensils that you need to have in your kitchen.  So why deprive yourself of it for the preparation of your homemade meals?

Importance of the souffle dish: an essential cooking utensil to make a successful souffle recipe!

The souffle is a great classic dish of French cuisine that can be either salty or sweet.  It is associated with two famous chefs in the history of French gastronomy: the 18th century Chef Vincent la Chapelle and the 19th century Pastry Chef Antonin Carême. A soufflé is served hot, puffed up and fluffly.  It is made of bechamel sauce, egg yolks and egg whites whipped to stiff peaks (until no streaks of white remains).

Some famous savoury soufflés are the cheese souffle with grated Gruyère, the Lyon speciality of the chicken liver soufflé, or the Norman soufflé which is a dessert made with apples and calvados. Sweet soufflés include chocolate souffle, lemon souffle or liqueur soufflés such as the Grand Marnier soufflé. Other types of souffles include the vanilla nutmeg soufflé, the sweet potato soufflé, the chocolate sauce soufflé, the pastry cream soufflé, the hazelnut soufflé, the butternut soufflé, the raspberries soufflé, the sharp cheddar soufflé, the chicken pot pie cheese sauce soufflés as well as ham and cheese soufflé.

We often tend to miss soufflé recipes, whether they are sweet or salty. Unfortunately, your oven soufflé recipe can often fall flat and not become fluffly. The key is to find the ideal nonstick pan to achieve uniform cooking! Remember that the soufflé must be light and puffed up. It is therefore necessary to be very careful when removing it out of the oven, otherwise the soufflé may fall back and appear flat! In this case, it will be a total waste of time and energy. The choice of the oven dish is therefore very important as a perfect soufflé lies in the success of its cooking! Do not choose a griddle for your soufflés as you will be left with a pancake instead of a soufflé !

How to choose the right 2 quart souffle dish, souffle pan or ramekin ?

To make it easier for you, we recommend that you choose a white porcelain dish or pan that will promote good heat distribution and even cooking of your preparation. Moreover, porcelain is very hygienic and can bring a very aesthetic side to your presentation if you decide to serve your soufflé in its mould itself without going through the demolding step.

As for the shape, choose a rather narrow porcelain soufflé dish with high enough edges to allow the dough to rise to its maximum. Moreover, it is not recommended to fill up the ramekin more than ¾ above the rim in order to leave the necessary space for the soufflé to rise as much as possible. From the outset, the mould must allow the heat to be diffused evenly, as a classic gratin dish or mould would allow. It will be useful to butter and flour your mold well to allow you to easily unmould your soufflé.

Always stick to the the recommended oven temperature and cooking time to maximize your chances of success. Whether you serve it as a main course or as a dessert, the soufflé is eaten hot (as after 30 minutes outside the oven, it collapses).

The soufflé dish exists in several materials including white porcelain, terracotta, transparent glass, earthenware, stoneware and so on. On AZ Boutique, you will find soufflé dishes like ramekins in porcelain available in several sizes to make soufflés of all sizes! From the 13cl mini mold or small dish, to the 35cl, 90cl, 100cl high ramekin soufflé mould as well as the largest 190cl to 270cl molds, you can make individual or very large size soufflés with your Revol, Pillivuyt or Sarreguemines Porcelain moulds, casserole dish or dish set.

Resistant to the thermal shocks of the traditional oven, the soufflé dish is easy to clean. In fact, it is both dishwasher and oven safe.

For a stylish and well-equipped kitchen, you will find not only the soufflé dishes worthy of your expectations but also other oven dishes such as gratin dishes, creme brulee dishes, custard cups, puddings dishes (bread puddings), lasagna dishes, breakfast casserole, casserole dishes, porcelain casseroles, non stick large saucepan, microwave safe porcelain dishes or round glass oven quiche dishes in our Cookware category or other cake moulds in our baking supplies (pastry section) with muffin moulds, silicone moulds or tray moulds on AZ boutique !
