What distinguishes a real Thermos from a generic vacuum flask?

Thermos is both the industrial inventor of the genre and the owner of the registered trademark. Current models use a double 18/8 stainless steel wall separated by a high-grade vacuum, complemented by a reflective coating (often copper) that limits thermal radiation. This combination of vacuum and reflector is what enables the 24-hour hot or cold retention claimed on King models, against 6 to 12 hours for the market average.

What's the difference between the Thermocafé and King ranges?

Thermocafé is the accessible entry range, in single-wall vacuum stainless steel, with typical retention of 12 to 18 hours hot / 24 hours cold depending on format. King is the premium range: reinforced insulation, shock-resistant powder-coated exterior, unscrewable lid with cup, claimed retention up to 24 hours hot and 24 hours cold on larger sizes.

Which Thermos capacity should I choose for which use?

For a personal coffee or tea on the go, an insulated mug of 350-500 ml is enough for one or two servings without weighing down the bag. For a hike or a day working outside, a 750 ml to 1 L flask covers several breaks without refilling. For longer table service (brunch, terrace), a 1 to 1.5 L insulated carafe keeps coffee or tea at the right temperature between courses. Match the capacity to how you drink: larger formats for sharing, smaller ones for strictly personal use.
