Paring knife

The paring knife is an adjoining accessory ideal for almost everything in the kitchen. It is a small knife with a smooth, short, sharp and pointed blade. With a wooden or synthetic handle, this kitchen knife has an ergonomic handle which enables a good grip. This model of knife is very appreciated for its versatility as it allows you to slice, chop, cut or peel garlic, onions, shallots, fruits and vegetables among others. Usually between 8 to 12 cm long, the paring knife is designed for daily use.

Each cutlery has its own use: daily uses of the paring knife for different cuts.

Restaurateurs or budding cooks, we all have a useful knife among our kitchen utensils to accomplish our daily culinary tasks. For the kitchen helper, most precisely the one who peels or cuts vegetables, fruit and other condiments, a paring knife will be indispensable as he or she will use it frequently throughout the day. As this knife is lightweight, with an ergonomic handle and a sharp steel blade, the one using it will be able to work with greater ease. This cutting accessory is very handy for peeling, cleaning, cutting and slicing small vegetables and fruits such as: mushrooms, apples, pears, beans, peppers, herbs and so on. The stainless steel used in the manufacturing of this knife ensures excellent durability of the blade, perfect resistance to corrosion and finally an exceptional quality of cut.

However, to maintain the quality in order to preserve the quality of this knife, regular sharpening is important, either with a sharpening stone or with an electric sharpener. To preserve the edge of the blade of your knife, we advise you to use a wooden cutting board and not a glass one. As for its maintenance, it is best to wash the knife by hand with a little hot water and wipe it dry immediately after washing. However, knives with plastic handles are dishwasher safe, but the following instructions should be followed to avoid damage:

  • Avoid washing them for long at temperatures above 50°C.
  • The paring knife must be placed in a separate compartment
  • Take the paring knife out of the dishwasher as soon as the washing is finished.
  • Use a soft cloth to dry the knife before storing it.

If you apply these tips on a daily basis, you will maintain the quality of your knife preventing you to change your knife for a new one.
